Frost in attic is usually not a roof leak. Warm air from inside the house escapes/bypasses into the attic (called stack effect), the moisture condenses and freezes on the roof truss/rafters and OSB sheathing. This can lead to mold, damaged to insulation and drywall.

Eliminating attic bypasses is the main strategy to avoid moisture problems in attics.

Seal around all penetrations into the attic, duct work, plumbing pipes, chimney chase way and electrical fixtures and wiring.

Insulate attic access cover.

Lower or shut off humidifiers.

Run bathroom fans for 30 minutes after use, should be vented out to exterior.

Set furnace blower fan on your thermostat to on instead of auto.

Consider installing a heat recovery ventilation system, (HRV) They replace damp indoor air with dry outdoor air, and recapture a fair amount of heat at the same time. Also will lower humidity levels. If you have a HRV make sure it's installed and operating correctly.

Installing v***r barrier below insulation, above ceiling drywall, not a fun or easy job.
