Illinois Direct Action Everywhere - DxE
Until every animal is free, the central Illinois chapter of Direct Action Everywhere.
BREAKING: Ridglan Farms is shutting down and every one of the remaining dogs will be released to rescues. This was only made possible by nearly ten years of campaigning, the hundreds of activists who have risked arrest and violence, and the rescue organizations that stepped up to negotiate with Ridglan’s lawyers and provide the dogs with safe places to go.
There is now just one major breeder of dogs for experimentation remaining in the US: Marshall BioResources (MBR) in North Rose, New York. We will now be campaigning for the release of their animals and for federal legislation against animal experimentation.
One of the ways you can get involved now is by organizing or attending protests in your area at laboratories or other facilities owned by companies that buy animals from MBR. We’ve created a campaign guide with more information at the short link dxe.io/mbrguide
We won’t be silent until every cage is empty and every animal is safe, happy, and free.

Today, we will call on the University of Illinois Board of Trustees to drop Ridglan and phase out animal testing. Amplify the pressure by calling in and demanding the same thing. Recently, the Illinois Institute of Technology dropped ties with Ridglan when they received calls like this, so it can work! Check out the last slide for a flier with an example script and the contact information.

1,500 beagles were recently released from Ridglan Farms following activist pressure and an attempted rescue! But the fight is not over yet. 500 beagles are still trapped at Ridglan.
Thousands more are exploited in research facilities elsewhere throughout the US, along with millions of other animals.
One of those places is Marshall BioResources (MBR). At MBR, animals live their lives in cages to be used over and over again in painful, distressing “learned helplessness” experiments. Just like the Ridglan dogs, they deserve a home, safety, and freedom.
Join us on May 23 at the Chicago Water Tower Place for an outreach event. We will urge Chicagoans to support our call to investigate MBR, end the breeding of dogs for experimentation, and funnel more funding into non-animal research methods.
We will have signs and leaflets available, but feel free to bring your own! Invite other animal lovers and spread the word.

BREAKING: The dogs are getting out! Ridglan just signed a deal to release the beagles confined at their animal testing and breeding facility in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. Rescues are working to get the dogs to safety as soon as possible.
Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen. This was only possible because people took action and created enough public pressure. Now, let’s replicate this effort for every animal in need.
