Got this great book and wanted to share an amazing itinerary for everyone that is thinking about doing a European trip but not sure what a low-carbon trip in Europe might look like…..

A Basque food adventure (about one week long)🍽️

1. Bilbao - One of the continent’s artistic centres! To satisfy the museum-hopping appetite, you should try the local pintxos (Basque tapas) & for atmosphere, Cafe-Bar Bilbao has been hard to beat since it opened in 1911! ☕️

2. Logroño - This leafy town is set just over the border from the Basque Country in La Rioja, with a real draw of Spain’s illustrious wines produced on the banks of the Rio Ebro, which you can find at the boisterous bars on Calle Laurel & Calle de San Juan!🍷

3. Vitoria-Gasteiz - Capital of Basque Country & has an amazing art scene & has some of the best pintxos! Accommodations here are far cheaper than in its coastal cousin. 😉

4. Donostia-San Sebastián - This is the holy city at the end of your pintxos pilgrimage - a true global culinary capital! Make beeline straight for the pintxos bars of the Parte Vieja (Old Town). A few favorites that have endured the test of time are the octopus dishes from Borda Berris & veal cheeks in red wine from La Cuchara de San Telmo.🐙

About 80,000 sheep - roughly 54,000 people 😳

The locals joke that the sheep outvote the humans on just about everything& I believe them.😁

Waterfalls that tumble straight into the ocean.💧

Grass-roofed villages that have barely changed in 500 years.🏡

Cliffs so dramatic they’ll make your camera cry. 📸

And the best part? It’s still beautifully uncrowded! This is Europe BEFORE everyone else discovers it. 😊

I almost forgot!! Happy National Donut Day! 🍩 But can we talk about what Europe has been doing with fried dough for CENTURIES? 😏

It may be a little late for donuts (no, who am I kidding 😉), but as you are admiring your donut, just know that Europe has been in their era of delicious fried pastry perfection long before the donut shop opened on the corner.

Straight from the streets of Paris — hot, golden, buried in powdered sugar, best eaten while walking along the Seine pretending you live there. 🥐

🇩🇪 Germany — Berliner
A jam-filled fried doughnut so iconic that JFK famously (and incorrectly) claimed to be one in his Berlin speech. History AND pastry. Oui. 🎤

🇵🇹 Portugal — Malasadas
Golden, sugar-rolled, and dangerously addictive. One bite and you’ll be booking flights to Lisbon immediately. We accept no liability. 😉

🇬🇷 Greece — Loukoumades
Tiny golden honey-drizzled dough balls that Greeks have been making since ancient times. Literally the OG donut.…respect the origin story. 🍯

The moral of this story?

Europe doesn’t just have history, castles, and river cruises.
