| September 1943

The Cedar Rapids Gazette spotlighted the start of the fall semester at Mount Mercy in its September 19, 1943 edition. About 180 students were enrolled that year, including 75 from Cedar Rapids. The paper captured students enjoying the campus as another school year began.

Building Feature: Regina Hall โœจ๐Ÿ’›

Opened in 1964, Regina Hall has been a welcoming first home on the Hill for generations of Mount Mercy students. This traditional-style residence hall features studio beds, desks, chairs, dressers, closets, and private sinks, which makes it a comfortable place to settle into campus life.

Building Feature: Plaster Athletic Complex โšฝโšพ๐ŸฅŽ๐Ÿƒโ€โžก๏ธ๐Ÿˆ

Completed in 2017, the Plaster Athletic Complex provides topโ€‘tier facilities for baseball, softball, track and field, football and soccer. With dedicated areas for hosting teams and spectators alike, the complex was designed to support highโ€‘level competition and create an exceptional experience for athletes and fans.

Building Feature: McAuley Hall ๐Ÿ’™

Opened in 1956, McAuley Hall offers a comfortable suite-style living experience in the heart of campus. Rooms are furnished with beds, dressers, desks, and desk chairs. Many students choose to arrange their rooms as four-person suites with adjoining private baths.

Building Feature: Hennessey Recreation Center ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ

Since opening in 1985, the Hennessey Recreation Center has been a central spot for fitness, athletics, and campus spirit. The 2,000โ€‘seat gymnasium features regulation courts for basketball and volleyball and is also home to a racquetball court, weight room, and locker facilities.

Used by students, alumni, faculty, and staff, Hennessey has been the backdrop for thrilling games, campus events, and countless hours of training and recreation.

The Recreation Center is named after Sr. Mary Agnes Hennessey, the fifth president of Mount Mercy.
