FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
[Monrovia, Liberia] β [March 20, 2024] β We stand united today in condemning the recent acts of mob violence that have killed Ma Theresa. This incident has shaken our community, locally as well as in the diaspora. A group of like-minded Liberians in the Diaspora and Liberia has come together to first give Ma Theresa a befitting burial and the honor she deserves as a citizen of our great nation, Libera. We are grateful to St. Moses Funeral home for providing their services and everyone who play a pivotal role during this humanitarian response.
We believe that our countryβs reputation is being tarnished. Violence is never the answer, and these actions have caused trauma to many Liberians at home and in the diaspora.
Our communities should thrive on open dialogue and peaceful expression of dissent. We must address the root causes of frustration and anger, but resorting to violence only serves to divide us further. We urge law enforcement to hold those responsible for the violence accountable.
We call upon all members of our community to:
β’ Reject violence in all its forms.
β’ Engage in a civil discourse and discuss how mob violence can be eradicated from our society.
β’ Work together to address the underlying issues that may be fueling tensions.
The following will be done to honor Ma. Theresa:
β’ A candlelight vigil will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the junction where Ma Theresa was mobbed between 6PM β 7:30PM.
β’ Funeral Services will be held at St. Moses Funeral Home at 10 A.M on Thursday, March 21, 2024
β’ We will be working with the police to make sure those involved are brought to justice
β’ We are committed to making sure our leaders put in policies to help eradicate this cancer from our society
Together, we can create a stronger, more peaceful community for all.
