Lisbon City Park Splash Pad!!

All the kids loved chatting it up and checking out this unique splash pad and wading pool!
We grabbed Capriotti's Cedar Rapids for a picnic lunch and made the trek (which was only about 20 minutes from the sub shop!)
The kids loved playing on the huge play ground before taking a dip!

Definitely worth the trip!

Last weekend we enjoyed a trip to the American Gothic House! Although, it was most enjoyable by the age 7+ crowd, the 3 and 5 year old were really engaged in the experience, too.

The girls enjoyed the interactive museum. And everyone loved the dress up photo ops! My favorite part was the cartoon video that taught us some of the key things about Grant Wood and his work. It really tired everything together for the older kids.

One year ago I was living out in the middle of the desert - literally - in a camper with my husband and six kids under 11.

I very vividly remember being on a call with my life coach In this desert (multiple calls actually. I left a lot of bs in this particular desert) and asking her what there was for me if it wasn’t Pure Romance.

I did NOT want to be a life coach, a business coach, a coach of any kind. I told her “you’re great at it. Not for me.”

I was wrong.
I’ve been a coach for my entire life.
When I was little little I helped guide my baby brother. I’m told I was often his only way of communicating. I was the only one who understood what he was saying through his speech impediment. As we got older, I remember very defensively explaining why he talked like he did. I spent a lot of time and intention coaching people to understand him.

When I was in 6th grade, I played computer games like the other kids, and watched pop up video on the weekends with my dad. But I also, called around to all the Drugtowns in Cedar Rapids and asked to speak to the manager so my friends and I could have a bake sale to benefit the Food Bank. I was philanthropical naturally.

In high school I started a community service club, instead of joining one. Because back then, people didn’t hear me and I needed to be heard. We did a number of things in the four years I was President. I was in the newspaper twice for my leadership. I was never voted “Most Likely” to do anything l, because I was a quiet leader in a class of 475. But my friend group voted me most likely to be the President of the USA - that was sweet of them, but I’ll pass 😜

I didn’t care much about leadership in College. I was busy learning how to be social. But I did still bring people together. I helped spear head a couple Christmas formal dinners (with lots of booze!) and I threw some killer Trailer Trash Bashes!

I was born to be a coach. To be the one that listens to understand. To bring clarity and calm to those who are looking. I was born for it.

Pure Romance just helped make my leadership clear. It built my skills and confidence.
It forced me to be who I was born to be.
