On May 15, 2026, Prairie Point Middle School proudly partnered with Workplace Learning Connection to host the 2026 Financial Literacy Fair, providing students with a hands-on opportunity to explore real-world financial decision-making and career planning.
During the event, students selected a career pathway and calculated a monthly budget based on their projected income. As they moved through a variety of interactive booths, students learned important financial concepts including insurance, student loans, housing costs, utilities, transportation, savings, and other everyday expenses. Each stop challenged students to make thoughtful financial decisions while tracking their monthly spending.
At the conclusion of the fair, students calculated their remaining monthly balance and met one-on-one with financial advisors to review their budget sheets, reflect on their choices, and discuss what they learned from the experience. The event helped students gain a deeper understanding of the importance of budgeting, financial responsibility, and long-term planning.
Prairie Point students did an outstanding job representing their school through their engagement, professionalism, and positive attitudes throughout the event.
Prairie Point Middle School would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the volunteers, community partners, and staff members who helped make this meaningful learning experience possible for our students. Finally, kudos to counselor, Mr. Ball, for organizing this event!
