Our food is made-from-scratch, including the laborious process of grinding up organic corn to make fresh tortillas, daily. Our bar is a rum and pisco focused bar that offers different craft cocktails, local and Latin beers, as well as Latin wines and spirits. Social hour is offered from 4:30pm-6:30pm Tues-Sat. Our last day of service was truly bittersweet. While there was a deep sadness in our hearts, what we felt most was love—so much love.
To our incredible community and loyal regulars: thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for the outpouring of support. Hearing your heartfelt stories about what Lacayo has meant to you has been nothing short of overwhelming. Your words reminded us why we started this journey in the first place—and why every moment was worth it.
And to our beautiful staff—thank you. You are the heart and soul of everything we built, and we are endlessly grateful.
We hope that by sharing our culture with you, we’ve inspired you to keep seeking out unique flavors and experiences—to broaden your horizons beyond the typical expectations of Latin American food. The best way to share love is through food, and we are so grateful that you embraced ours and gave that love right back.

For the past two years, it has been our greatest honor to share the vibrant culture and flavors of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula with you. Your support has fueled our passion and solidified our place in the Cedar Rapids community. Together, we’ve exchanged stories, shared laughter, built friendships, and learned from one another.
Through the challenges of the past year, we’ve made many sacrifices to keep our doors open. But today, we face our hardest one yet—we must say goodbye.
This decision is heartbreaking, but above all, we want to express our deepest gratitude. To our regulars who have shown us so much love, thank you for embracing us, for your unwavering support, and for making us feel truly at home in this community. We could not have done this without you.
We are also profoundly grateful to our incredible team. Their dedication, passion, and warmth have brought Lacayo to life each day, making every guest feel welcome. They are the heart and soul of our restaurant, and we are so proud of them.
Our final farewell will be on April 11th, and until then, we hope to share a few more special moments with you. Join us in the coming weeks as we feature some favorites and celebrate the memories we’ve made together.

The best way to really describe this cocktail is to use the descriptive words of the cocktail creator, our bar manager, Jayson:
“It’s like sitting poolside; with coffee on your breath, drinking a tropical cocktail, and watching the sexy cabana boy clean the pool.”
