Have had this Sabine Wren helmet sitting in the non-base coated state for some time. Printed, sanded, resin coated, sanded, primed and finally got to a base graphite colored coating today. Next step is taping off and learning some airbrushing!

AI seems fun and easy. It’s startling what platforms like Midjourney can do. I’m sure many of us have had fun playing with it by punching in a few word prompts.

But make no mistake- you are not an artist. You didn’t create those images. They were created by the program using actual artist’s work. Artists that spent years and/or decades to learn their craft. The artwork they post didn’t just take hours or days to produce, it took years of practice and learning.

Have fun with AI but don’t you dare call yourself an “artist”. You created nothing and you learned nothing. You typed in a few words and watched a program take the hard work of other artist to create something for you. You created art in the same way using a self serve yogurt machine means you created yogurt. Perhaps worse because you at least paid for the yogurt. You’re not talented, skilled, or special. You’re using a self serve machine for fun, that’s it.

If you want to legitimately create art, pick up a pencil or a lump of clay. Otherwise you’re just a person playing a video game that you didn’t create. And everyone knows it.

Been busy working on yet another project to add to my roster. Planning on having a suit for upcoming Quad con and a lot to get done.... Pretty much all of it in fact 😅

So my son's hematite ring took a fall and exploded into an unfixable wreck. Queue up some UV resin, jewel beads and a little copper flake and bam, instant(ish) steampunk antique amulet of unknown depths of ancient power!

Finally starting on my newest project. Never messed with foam before, but this holds the potential for one full mandalorian helmet 😬

Update on the mask, chose to paint half and take photo to show difference in coloring. Base was red and titanium white mixture, top coat is satin red and brushed metal silver mixture to give a little shine.

Back to the mask for a night, a little pink with satin red mixed with titanium white but it will darken to a more Sith red soon enough. Have another project about to move to the front burners while filling extra time with this that I'm excited to start and share.
