Sunday numerous streets are closed across the city due to the inaugural Cedar Rapids Marathon Weekend, which runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Expect significant traffic delays, detours, and strict "no parking/tow away" zones in and around the downtown and surrounding course areas.

The event impacts traffic in several specific ways:
• Main Downtown Closures: 1st Street SW (between 1st and 2nd Avenue) and 2nd Avenue SW/SE (between 2nd Street SW and 1st Street SE) are closed from 5:00 a.m. Saturday through 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
• Sunday Race Route: Intersections along the course (including portions of 2nd Street, 3rd Street SE, 16th Avenue SE, C Street SW, A Street SW, and Ely Road SW) will be closed starting Sunday morning. The roads will reopen throughout the day as runners clear each section, with all closures ending by 3:00 p.m.
• 1st Avenue Impact: Between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, Westbound 1st Avenue E will be reduced to a single lane between 4th and 5th Streets, and left-turn lanes on 8th Avenue SE at 3rd Street will be closed.
