We had some awesome visitors last night! A group of 5th graders on a LEGO team came to learn all about underwater ocean photography and the challenges photographers face—they’re using this research for a competition project! 🤩 We dove into topics like underwater color theory, lighting, scuba diving, and cool animal behaviors. They asked really great questions!

I also got to hear about their super cool project idea: a multi-camera, 3D underwater mapping system to help scientists collect data. 🤯 The best part? Seeing them light up when I showed them photos from my own dives. Their enthusiasm for the ocean and making a difference was seriously inspiring. What a great group!

Merry Christmas Eve! My love language is shared enthusiasm and joy, so receiving that when I’m working in the water with someone is truly the greatest gift. 💝

This young lady and I had so much fun passing my camera back and forth during our shoot for . We were both so delighted about the photos we took of each other! 📸 💦 ✨

Last weekend one of my clients whose daughter was doing an underwater session with me at in Dallas told me she thinks I just recently photographed her nephew who swims for .viejo.nadadores in California. She showed me his pics from our shoot and sure enough, it was him! I thought that was pretty neat. 😆

When you’re a free diver, certified scuba instructor and going to be studying marine biology at University, it only makes sense to do your Senior Portraits underwater. She has a bright and adventurous future ahead of her and I wish her all the best! 🌊 🤿 🐬 💫

This “Luna Moth Tail” from photographs beautifully with its unique details and fins that look like wings! This fabric tail, and many others, are available as part of my new collection of Mermaid tails for photo shoots.

An image like this can be interpreted so many ways. The orientation, reflections, lighting, wardrobe, the chaos of breaking through the surface of the water… what do these things contribute to the image? Does the image speak to freedom? transition? struggle?

I find it fascinating how just playing around and diving into a pool headfirst can then be interpreted into something perhaps more philosophical, from a mere split second capture.

You wanna know what’s spooky? It’s mid-October already. And I made a Christmas post before a Halloween one. 😂 🤪

It’s so good to be back in San Juan Capistrano photographing the talented Seniors on .swimmingdiving team. For the second year in a row they will be using the photos we take on their athletic banners, displayed at their beautiful facility.
