Cooking has been a part of Aqila's life ever since her southern grandmother taught her preteen.
At the age of nine (9) years old she cooked ham and biscuits for her family, unassisted, for the first time. She was able to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner having prepared the turkey with a lattice of bacon, her family's special dressing, candied yams, pork smoked greens, mac and cheese and potato salad and gravy at the age of 12 years old.
