Metal Detecting is a great hobby, I have been metal detecting since 1992 and I enjoy getting out and searching for lost treasures.

This evening I went to a swimming hole a friend from work told me about, I spent a few hours there. My best scooped find was a 10K white gold engagement ring with 6 diamond chips and a bigger diamond in the middle. I found the measuring tape in the road on the way there.

Thank you for the great prize giveaway to CKG Sand Scoops on this shovel! I have yet to use it but the build is great! Love the shorter curve part where blade and shaft meet. The powder coat adds to the grip as it’s a rough finish. Not heavy at just a bit over 4 lbs, the total length (39 1/2”) is perfect as I’m 5’7” tall.

Today I got out for a couple of hours in Fort Worth. It was hard to hunt as I had an Air Show above me, The Blue Angles were showing their talent! I did come away with a 1943P war Nickle! The plastic Sacagawea came out with a zinc penny.

Recently, I went to the dump in Oak Cliff but only have a short window…plus the mosquitos were thirsty. But, these two were my keepers.

The last bottle dump dig at the Oak Cliff dump “10th St” produced some finds. This is the smallest cobalt bottle I have recovered, the Star is IOOF Grand Lodge of Texas (Corsicana), meaning “Independent Order of Odd Fellows”. The coins are Un Centavo and a 1917 wheat penny.

This morning I went creek scraping at a bottle dump. Money creek has given again, with a 47 Rosie, 2 1/2 crusty pennies, a marble and silver dental partial. Then headed to an old park where I recovered a 42 Merc, ring (no value) and clad.

Today, my wife and I went to visit our parents…she went to Sacshe, I stayed in Garland, my mom says she has been wanting to go detecting. So I asked my dad, you got that ATPro…so I grabbed a knife and a military shovel. We headed to a nearby school. I recovered a 1964 Rosie, pet tag and some pocket change. She got some pocket change.

Today’s dump dig at the Oak Cliff 10th Street dump. I met up with quite a few diggers! Everyone recovered some amazing items. I saved half of a silver spoon, a clay marble, 4 stoppers (1 complete) 2 are Lea & Perrins and some other great finds.

This token was found last weekend at the dump. Soaked in Worcestershire sauce for about 1.5 days. It was in worse condition, comes out that it says W.A. FARMER 1 (cent) SHAVE. There isn’t one in the tokencatalog.com website. I can’t wait to see what comes out from the dump tomorrow!

Dump digging item I forgot to post from last weekend. A doll head with the quarter for size reference.

Last weekend, while bottle digging. I was sifting the discarded dirt, this tag was in the screen. The number is C537666, the rest of the tag is barely noticeable but I’m able to see it’s from Chicago. I’m assuming it’s exact like the Internet Sample pics I’ve included. I’ll also be posting the token I found as I’m currently cleaning it and getting more info to it….its not a Merchandise Token!
