Rookie's

We’ve made our own ice cream since 2021.

Since then we’ve been on a constant mission to formulate and recreate the BEST flavors out there. We think ice cream is better when it’s simple. High butter fat (ours is 16%), low overrun (less air whipped into the cream), and simple ingredients (like the ones you can find in your own kitchen).

The strawberry ice cream was a challenge because there were very few off-the-shelf options to include in our ice cream that didn’t include “junk” (Red 40, stabilizers, etc). So, we went to work this winter to make our own. We tried dozens of variations to finally land on the one that is clean label and truly tastes like freshly picked strawberries and cream.

Guys, it’s dialed.

Ingredients:
Cream
Milk
Sugar
Eggs
Strawberry Puree (Strawberries and Sugar)
Beet Juice (for color)

No food coloring.
No artificial flavors.

And best enjoyed on a sugar cookie (in our personal opinion) - aka what we like to call the Strawberry Shortcake 😉

How our ice cream sandwich company landed its first grocery store.

We’re honestly so excited and grateful that we’re on shelf at Lowe’s foods - in 81 of their 84 stores!

We had been selling single serve sandwiches in a wholesale capacity inside of food service for a few years - and still are!

But emerging brands in a competitive ice cream and novelty market rarely get a shot at precious shelf space, which is why this is SO EXCITING for us.

It wasn’t our first pitch to them. First, we pitched the same sandwiches we were selling for food service distributers - Rookie mistake… it’s not what grocers want because it’s not what shoppers buy. So, we created new product line; a multi-count version of our favorite combinations and pitched them again in January. They said yes!

The packaging was fun to work on, and we’re continuing to iterate on the way we seal the *cute* sandwiches inside!

They’ve been a great retailer to work with. They introduced us to their distributor and we fulfilled our first P/O (purchase order) with MDI in April. (Funny story - our first delivery we scheduled in the middle of the night because we thought we had to… turns out they receive deliveries during the daylight too lol… live and learn!)

Our sandwiches started rolling out on shelf in April and we’ve been blown away by how many of our rookie’s fam have DM’d and texted us about discovering us on shelf!

The goal now is to sell through to new customers who will discover Rookie’s for the first time! Literally so excited to have this kind of reach and opportunity.
