👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 What We Talked About in Kids Today

Today we talked about something kids feel deeply but don’t always have words for:

👉 There are no “good kids” and “bad kids.”
There are people who make good choices… and bad choices.

We used the story of Jacob and Esau (Genesis 25:19 - 33:18) to show how even people God uses make messy decisions. The Bible is honest about that - everyone misses the mark. That’s what sin does: it pulls us off God’s target.

But here’s the hope we emphasized:

🎯 Sin throws off our aim.
✝️ Jesus makes our aim true again.

Because of Jesus - His sacrifice and His victory - our mistakes don’t get the final word. We’re not defined by our worst moment. With His help, we learn, grow, repent, and keep moving forward.

The big takeaway for the kids: Your actions matter

Your identity is loved, chosen, and redeemable

And with Jesus, failure is never the end of the story

If your child talks about “good kids vs bad kids” this week, this is a great moment to remind them: God doesn’t label people—He redeems them.

All through the month of September we will be talking about the promise fulfilled through the baptism in the Holy Spirit and how the Early Church came together and grew. This week we focused on Acts 1:1-8 and 2:1-12 and the amazing things that happened after Jesus ascended and the disciples waited for the Helper that was to come. Let's just say the day of Pentecost left them anything but speechless!
