Did you know that extremely windy days can really change the radon levels in your home?

In fact, in some states, if wind speeds are over 30mph for an extended period of time during a radon test, it can actually invalidate the test for a real estate transaction?

Weather plays a big part in the radon levels of your home... wind, rain, barometric pressure, extreme cold, etc... If you've ordered a radon test, make sure it's during "average" weather (and not part of an extreme weather event).

Also, the next time you test (and you are following the EPA guidelines to test every 2 years, aren't you?), do it during a different season to potentially get a different result.

Some mitigators discourage homeowners from a follow up test, but that's a mistake. Make sure that mitigation system you just had installed is dramatically reducing the radon in your home.

A radon level of 4.0 pCi/L leads to exposure that equals 200 chest x-rays annually or smoking eight ci******es per day.
At 8.0 pCi/L it's equivalent to 400 x-rays or 16 daily ci******es.
And if your level is 20.0 pCi/L that equals 1,000 chest x-rays per year or 40 ci******es per day.
Don't take on that risk. Mitigate to breathe safely.

Most mitigation systems are installed as a part of a real estate transaction. Too often the sellers are the ones paying for mitigation and they (understandably) just want to get it fixed so they can sell their home.
BUT ALL RADON MITIGATION IS NOT THE SAME.
You and your family will be breathing the air in your new home. 🏡 Take control and get quality mitigation that will WORK. Even if you have to pay the difference, it will be worth it.

Radon can enter into your home or workplace through cracks in solid floors and walls and gaps around service pipes. You can't see it or smell it, which is why testing is critically important.
