If you know, you know! Dubois, WY… A few months ago, I featured the Museum of Military Vehicles just outside of Dubois, Wyoming. While you’re in the area, there are a few other stops to make sure you don’t miss.
*
For decades, the strawberry rhubarb pie served at the Cowboy Cafe has been a favorite of mine, but did you know you can purchase this homemade delight by the whole pie just down the street at the Country Store Travel Shop? You can’t miss the place. There is an enormous Jackalope outside the building. Inside, along with various Jackalope themed gifts, you’ll find a freezer stocked with the same handmade pies served at the Cowboy Cafe. Make your family happy with one of these as a souvenir!
*
A little farther east, you can find the Honey House. This newer stop in the area is where you’ll find fresh, truly local honey and other bee-associated products. There is even a live hive in the store! When honeycomb is in stock, you don’t want to miss the chance to get some. The beeswax candles are also high on the must-have list.
*
Many Wyoming visitors love to take home a piece of the landscape in the way of Wyoming artwork. Gary Keimig’s studio of wildlife and western art provides an opportunity to own beautiful original (or print) art work from a true Wyoming local. His realistic paintings bring Wyoming to life no matter where the picture might hang.
*
Where is your must stop in the Dubois area? I’d love to know where and why!

Exploration: Jackson Hole Outfitters 08/02/2021

HELLO August! The summer is flying by, but there is still time to adventure. Some of our very best weather comes in August and September. How will you explore Wyoming in the coming weeks? May we suggest on horseback with Jackson Hole Outfitters ???

Exploration: Jackson Hole Outfitters We visited Jackson Hole Outfitters (JHO) for a two night stay with accompanying horseback trail rides in the Grey's river region among the Wyoming and Salt River Mountain ranges. As a group of 11, we were a large party to accommodate for sleeping arrangements, meals, and trail riding. JHO did so sea...

Discovering Wyoming: If You Know, You Know - Crowheart Store 07/14/2021

It's mid-July already?!? How can that be? Have you been spending any of your summer vacation on the road in Wyoming? Did you stop at this little place? If you know, you know!

Discovering Wyoming: If You Know, You Know - Crowheart Store We've shared via our blog about a few places to stay, some lesser-known places to see, and a sprinkling of things to do in our beautiful state of Wyoming. We'll keep the tips and tricks coming, but there is another category we're eager to share. It's the category we're calling, "If you know, you kno...

Wyoming is full of unknown treasures. So much so, this agency is being built on sharing the diversity of unique experiences the state has to offer. One such unknown gem is the Treehouse at Keyhole State Park.

A great compromise; the Treehouse offers both a camping-esque experience with many of the comforts of cabin life. Built in 2018 as a fully accessible option for enjoying the area (there are ramps to both the cabin and the outhouse), the treehouse has been welcoming guests for only a few years. The cabin can host up to 5 guests. Nearby camping sites in the Cottonwood camping area of Keyhole State Park also offer options for adding numbers to your group. Sites 4 and 6 are closest to the cabin.

Inside, there are two separate bedrooms (one with queen bed, one with double over single bunk), a living area with electric fireplace, small kitchenette area, and a massive deck overlooking the reservoir. A gas grill and fire grate offer two options for cooking. A small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot make for easy comfort-camping. The furniture inside the cabin is comfortable and in excellent condition. Should the Wyoming weather make for less-than-ideal camping conditions, it’s no problem. The cabin is heated and offers both indoor and outdoor dining areas.

The detached bathroom has a composting toilet that has the look and feel of a standard flush toilet. The sink and mirror are similar to what a person might expect to see in a budget hotel room instead of a camping site. Electricity at the private (door code used to access the unit) bathroom makes night-time visits easy.

At the time of our booking, the rate was $167.00 per night. While not cheap, it’s comparable to nearby cabin rentals and has the added benefit of being within the park for easy access to the reservoir. Worth it? In our humble opinion… absolutely! *Nearby campsites (non-electric) reserve for $17.00 per night.

Guests can book The Treehouse by visiting Reserve America. Interested in adding other accommodation? Want to build a full vacation itinerary including a stay at The Treehouse and other unique Wyoming location? Send us an email! WeKnowWyo@gmail.com-- 06/16/2021
