Today Oberlin village can be seen with developments like this popping up, interrupting the contextual fabric of historic cottages, churches, businesses and a school that once existed. Though the community still bares its name its identity has been drastically changed.

Today Oberlin Village 1 of 13 freedman villages fights to remain remembered. With a history of being surrounded by encroaching development has been reduced to two city blocks.

Houses like the Turner House represent the stature of this community.

Today’s post is about redemption, after two off weeks of broken momentum my sister text me and held me accountable of my promise. Not necessarily for anybody else but for myself. Most days in the past week I haven’t “felt” motivated or took the time to curate my material which just led to the easy way out of not posting but today I start again. Not holding on to the idea of completing 365 days but the idea of showing up for myself as much as possible as I push my work out.

Happy Birthday Tonay!! Yall Tonay has been one of my ride or die’s for almost ten years whether it’s been birthday shoots, graduation or I needed a model for a concept she has been there to make it happen. Thank you for trusting me with the milestones of your life. I’m praying that year 25 is the best one yet!!

Lineage is such a powerful thing. The ability to see how genes are passed down. How personality and culture begins to collaborate between souls. You begin to see the passion and the fire passed on to next torch bearers.
