These days more so than ever not everyone is fortunate to have a picture-perfect employment history that aligns with their career goals. With a rough economy and in the wake of COVID-19, many professionals find themselves with substantial employment gaps or a string of short-term or unrelated gigs dominating their resumes. The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has recently released the draft version of the Ransomware Risk Management Profile, which identifies security objectives from the NIST CSF (Cybersecurity Framework) - Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond & Recover. It is aimed to guide you as an organization to manage the risk of ransomware events by providing security objectives that support preventing, responding to, and recovering from threats.

While the CMMC implementation timelines continue to evolve, Government contractors with DFARS 252.204-7012 and 252.204-7019 in their contracts are required to comply with NIST SP 800-171 and upload their self-assessment score into SPRS. Although the requirement is for the SPRS upload to be completed prior to contract award, we encourage affected contractors to begin their self-assessments immediately.
