Aspergillosis is a life-threatening condition and can cause serious brain infections such as meningitis or brain abscesses. It is important to seek medical attention immediately if you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms such as headache, confusion, or memory loss, as these can be signs of a brain infection caused by Aspergillosis which can enter the sinuses and lungs and penertrate into the brain and cause death.
Here are some ways to protect yourself and others:
Keep your environment clean and free of moisture and mold.
Monitore your humidity with an IAQ sensor and use a dehumidifier if the air conditioner can't keep the air dry in the building.
Avoid exposure to contaminated air or dust, especially in areas with musty odors, and visable mold.
Wear PPE (personal protective equimpment) when working in areas with potential exposure to contaminated air or dust.
If you have a weakened immune system, take extra precautions to avoid exposure to mold and contaminaed dust.
After woking with or upon inhaling mold spores flush your sinsus.
Monitor your health for days after mold exposure, and contact a specilist if symptoms are present.
