To encourage all residents and business owners in the City of Carthage to participate and comment on the Carthage Police Department page, please follow these guidelines:
1. If we all use common courtesy and common sense then everyone will feel comfortable participating in and with the various dialogues and interactions on this page. We want to hear from you.
3. Please call 911 to report any emergency or threatening situation.
4. Please do not use profanity, cursing or obscene language. Your post will be deleted.
5. Please do not make threatening or abusive statements. Your post will be deleted.
6. Please do not report or make criminal accusations on this page. Please call the Carthage Police Department Dispatch at (417) 237-7200
Additionally, here are the guidelines from Facebook:
Content (i.e., photos, groups, shares, etc.) is removed from Facebook when it violates Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Types of content that are prohibited from Facebook include, but are not restricted to the following:
· No nudity or other sexually explicit content
· No content that contains hate speech or directly attacks an individual or group

· Post that constitutes spam.
· Post that attacks any city employee directly or in a personal manner, or manner not related to the job performance of this officer.

August 10, 2026
Suspect Arrested Following Serious Assault
On August 10, 2026, at approximately 0923 hours, the Carthage Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Kimberly Ln, in Carthage, Missouri, for a reported medical emergency. The reporting party advised that a female inside the apartment had sustained serious injuries and was bleeding.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a 56-year-old female, who had sustained multiple stab wounds and lacerations to her face, neck, torso, and arms. Emergency personnel immediately provided medical assistance. The victim was transported by EMS to a local hospital for further treatment and is currently listed in critical condition.
Prior to officers' arrival, the suspect had fled the scene. Through the course of the investigation, officers identified the suspect as 32-year-old Nathan Michael Roberts of Kansas City, Missouri.
With assistance from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with information obtained from Springfield’s Flock cameras, investigators determined that Roberts had fled the area in the victim’s vehicle and was traveling toward Springfield, Missouri.
With assistance from the Springfield Police Department, Greene County Sheriff's Office, Missouri Department of Probation and Parole, and the United States Marshals Service, Roberts was located and taken into custody at approximately 1530 hours.
Charges were submitted to the Jasper County Prosecutor's Office for Domestic Assault in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The Jasper County Prosecutor's Office subsequently charged Roberts with Domestic Assault 1st and Armed Criminal Action, and a no-bond warrant was issued.
Roberts is currently being held in the Greene County Jail. He was also taken into custody on outstanding warrants from Webb City, Carthage, and the Missouri Department of Probation and Parole.
The Carthage Police Department would like to thank the citizens who reported the incident and all of our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners who assisted in the investigation and the quick apprehension of the suspect.
This remains an active investigation. No further information will be released at this time.

Tomorrow is Election Day, and we want to reassure everyone who will be voting at Carthage Nazarene Church (2000 S. Grand Avenue) that you will have full access to the polling location.
Although Marian Days road closures are currently in place and the church is also serving as the Carthage Police Department’s command post, voters will not be required to go through any police roadblocks or have contact with officers in order to cast their ballot. Our goal is to ensure every eligible voter can access the polls safely and conveniently.
To help make traffic flow as smoothly as possible, we encourage voters to approach the church from the south and enter via Grand Avenue if you are able.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our officers in the area.
Marian Days 2026 is here!
Beginning Saturday, August 1, at 7:00 AM, officers will begin closing roads for the Marian Days celebration. Road closures will remain in effect until approximately 12:00 PM on Sunday, August 9.
Please plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible.
The following roads will be closed:
• Grand Avenue from Highland Avenue to Fairview Avenue
• Fairview Avenue from Main Street to Wynwood Drive
• Highland Avenue from Grand Avenue to Fulton Street

SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE
We have received multiple reports of scam phone calls from individuals impersonating Police Officers and Deputies.
People are being told they missed jury duty or have a warrant for their arrest and are instructed to send payment immediately to avoid being taken into custody.
This is a scam.
Law Enforcement will never call you to collect payment over the phone for jury duty, warrants, fines, or any other legal matter. We do not request payment through gift cards, prepaid debit cards, cash apps, or wire transfers.
If you receive one of these calls:
• Do not provide personal information
• Do not send money
• Hang up immediately
Please help us protect our community by sharing this information with friends and family, especially elderly loved ones who are often targeted by these scams.
The Carthage Police Department, in cooperation with The Alliance of SWMO, recently conducted alcohol compliance checks at businesses throughout the city. 17 business were contacted. Of the 17, two were not compliant and failed. The total operation resulted in two citations for supplying intoxicants to a minor as well as one arrest for two active fail to appear warrants.
The Alliance of Southwest Missouri provided funding, training, and teaching resources for the project. We want to say thank you to them and let everyone know that we plan to continue this project throughout the year.
