That's a mess of tree roots that grew into a well. If you have tree roots coming into your well you also have a lot of other undesirable things coming in too. We can solve this by installing a liner casing and sealing it with grout.

We've been running into more wells lately that are having trouble with the casing rusting through and leaking mud or colapsing. The typical repair is to install a PVC "liner casing" within the old steel casing. The rubber K-packer shown here, along with the subsequent grout seal, helps to prevent surface water contamination of the well. This type of calcification often happens in galvanized pipes. This is especially problematic when it happens in the 1/4" pipe where the pressure switch is connected, which can cause the pressure switch to stick on or off - both are a problem. Let me know if you water pressure doesn't seem right.

I got a tough one today. The pump controls and pressure tank for this place were in an old storm shelter that was flooded when I arrived. Once I pumped it out I had to replace most of the electrical and replumb the pressure tank.

Look closely and you will see a crack in this well casing just above the pitless adapter. I've been seeing a lot of well casings lately that have rusted out to the point where they have holes that let mud and other contaminates into the well. The solution is to install a new PVC casing inside the old steel casing and seal it correctly. Just let me know if you think that rust may be compromising your well casing - we can help!

Here's a trick: We use a megohm meter to see if a pump motor is on the verge of failure - then you can decide if you want to address the problem on its schedule or yours.
