Juneteenth celebrates an important piece of our nation's history and African American heritage. In 1980, Texas declared Juneteenth a state holiday. Dozens of states have since followed suit, including Missouri in 2003. Although Juneteenth celebrations have grown and changed over the years, the purpose behind the holiday—a celebration of independence and freedom—remains.

6/15: World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
Create a safer community for all ages! Expose ageism and challenge stereotypes that portray older adults as frail, vulnerable and disposable. These harmful beliefs perpetuate discrimination and increase the risk for abuse.
If you or someone you know is a victim of elder abuse, neglect or exploitation, file a report at Health.Mo.Gov/abuse at any time.

As a precaution against disease, do not handle a live bat. If you are bitten by a bat, wash the area immediately with hot soapy water and contact a physician. If possible, capture the bat without damaging the head (wear heavy leather gloves or scoop it up with a shovel) and place it in a jar or plastic bag and refrigerate so it can be tested by health officials.

Staying focused behind the wheel is one of the most important habits any driver can develop. When you take your eyes off the road, even for a few seconds, you may miss critical information about the vehicles and conditions around you.
That awareness is especially important when sharing the road with large trucks and buses, which require more space to stop, turn, and maneuver safely.
The habits you build today can help make our roads safer tomorrow.
