Strong winds are moving through our area today, which has already caused a broken pole on the 1800 block Hazel Ave. that is affecting a small number of customers in the area. Crews are on site and working as quickly and safely as possible to replace the damaged pole and restore power to those impacted. If you're traveling through the 1800 block of Hazel Street, please use caution and watch for crews and equipment working nearby.
Weโve also received a few questions about recent power โblinksโ in this area. With the strong winds we've been experiencing, loose and broken tree limbs have been coming into contact with power lines. In many cases, what customers experience as a brief outage or "blink" is actually our protective equipment doing exactly what it was designed to do.
When a limb contacts a power line, devices on our system automatically detect the fault and temporarily interrupt power to protect equipment and prevent a larger, longer-lasting outage. If the obstruction clears, power is often restored within seconds without the need for crews to manually reset the system. While these momentary interruptions can be frustrating, they are often a sign that the system is protecting itself and helping prevent a more widespread outage.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these wind-related issues and restore service to affected customers. Please reach out if you have any questions. We will provide updates as they become available!

If youโre still cleaning up from the storm, be sure to prepare your debris for pick up!
Letโs keep working together to get Carthage cleaned up!
Update: Curbside Limb Pickup will conclude on Friday, June 26
Following recent storm activity, the City of Carthage has implemented a debris removal plan to assist residents with cleanup efforts across the community.
The City of Carthage Recycling Center (1309 Oak Hill Rd.) will open Monday, June 15, and will operate daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to accommodate storm debris disposal.
Please note the Recycling Center will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
Residents who have the ability to transport debris are strongly encouraged to utilize the Recycling Center to help expedite the overall cleanup process.
City crews will begin curbside pickup of tree limbs on Wednesday. Crews will conduct a citywide rotation, traveling through all neighborhoods to collect debris.
There is no need to call or schedule a pickup, as crews will work systematically through all streets over time.
To ensure safe and efficient collection, residents are asked to follow these guidelines when placing debris at the curb:
Limbs of all sizes will be accepted
Place debris neatly at the back of the curb
Keep all piles clear of mailboxes, fire hydrants, utility poles, and parked vehicles
Proper placement will help crews move quickly and safely throughout the community.
City crews will continue working diligently in the days ahead to complete debris removal efforts. We appreciate the communityโs cooperation and patience as cleanup progresses.

We are happy to report that all customers on the CWEP system have now been restored following this weekend's storm damage.
At this time, the only remaining outages are customer-side issues caused by damage to individual electrical services. These situations require repairs by a licensed electrician before power can be safely restored.
We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our CWEP crews, our mutual aid partners from Nixa, Harrisonville, and MPUA, and our customers for their patience and support throughout this restoration effort.
We also remind everyone to continue using caution around any damaged electrical equipment and to contact us if you notice any additional outage-related concerns.

Mutual aid assistance has arrived! ๐
After working through the night and into today, CWEP crews were able to take a well-deserved break at noon while neighboring utility crews continue restoration efforts for our remaining customers still without power.
Thanks to the incredible work of our crews and our mutual aid partners, we've reduced outages from more than 3,000 customers to fewer than 40 customers awaiting restoration.
Weโre incredibly grateful to the crews from City of Nixa - Municipal Government, City of Harrisonville, MO and Missouri Public Utility Alliance for answering the call and helping restore power to our community following the recent storms. Their willingness to step in and lend a hand is a powerful reminder of the strong partnerships that exist within the public power community.
The saying "it takes a village" couldn't be more true during times like these. We are incredibly thankful for the support we've received from our neighboring utilities and for the patience and encouragement shown by our customers throughout this restoration effort.๐
As always, please continue to stay clear of downed power lines and areas where crews are actively working. We will keep you updated as information becomes available!

Our electric system sustained widespread damage from last night from the storms. CWEP crews worked throughout the night and have successfully restored power to most customers affected.
We still have a few outages remaining that will require more extensive repairs. To help restore service as quickly as possible, we have requested mutual aid assistance to help work on the larger repair projects.
For your safety, please stay clear of any downed power lines and avoid areas where utility crews are actively working. Always assume downed lines are energized and dangerous.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as restoration efforts continue. We will provide additional updates as information becomes available. For the latest outage information and to view our outage map, visit: https://www.cwep.com/outage-center/

Serving our community goes beyond providing reliable utility services, it means showing up and giving back.
Today, some of our CWEP team was proud to participate in the Carthage Area United Way Day of Action, volunteering their time and talents to support local organizations making a difference right here in our community. From lending a helping hand at the new Carthage Crosslines location, to garden prep at the Fair Acres Family YMCA, to helping spruce up the Carthage MO Humane Society, it was a great opportunity to invest in the place we call home.
Weโre grateful for the work these organizations do every day and are honored to partner with them to help Carthage thrive!๐
