Posting for posterity. These are lighting tests for a V-day pet mini session I'm planning, and Woo actually cooperated! I don't love the set up, but I love her actually letting me photograph her. I could cry. She is an old lady now and has started slowing down ... it makes my heart sad. :-(

Migration Alert! It's going to be massive this weekend, with an estimated 316 million to 400+ million migrating birds on the wing each night, according to BirdCast. Warmer colors on the map show where migration will be most intense. This should make for great birdwatching—and it's also a good time to turn off nonessential indoor and outdoor lights to avoid disorienting birds. Sadly, light pollution and unsafe windows contribute to the hundreds of millions of birds estimated to die in building collisions in the U.S. every year.
