Everyone is encouraged to participate during this process so we can work together to improve the city’s health, safety and livability.
In May 2013, the LA County Department of Public Health awarded a Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Initiative grant to the UCLA Prevention Research Center in partnership with City of Carson’s Community Development Department. A goal of the project is to improve community health by increasing active lifestyles and improved air quality by encouraging active transportation such as biking and walkin
g. A primary goal of this project is to engage local residents, businesses, workers, students and everyone to come together to develop an Active Transportation Plan that reflects the needs and wants of the Carson community. The Active Transportation Plan will build on the Carson Master Plan of Bikeways. It will identify pedestrian, bicycle, and public transit networks and amend the City’s General Plan to allow for implementation of improvements to the built environment to encourage everyone to walk and bike throughout Carson. We are working to make the City of Carson a healthier and more livable community that provides a broad range of transportation options to our residents. This plan will help us better connect residents to schools, jobs, local shops, transit, and our 12 parks, 2 mini-parks and sports/recreational facilities and the Carson Community Center.
