🌟 Our summer camps are off to a great start!
Yesterday we began Camp Girls on the Run with 17 girls from 3rd–5th grade. This is our fifth year hosting this camp and Head Coach (and Owner) Megan’s 20th year with the program. We are so excited to spend the week helping these young ladies build confidence, connection and resilience!
Building on this momentum, our next program is One Heart Summer Camp, also designed for children entering 3rd through 5th grades.
Who would benefit from One Heart?
This camp is perfect for children who are navigating big emotions, changing friendships, growing independence and new challenges. Whether your child could use a confidence boost, support managing stress or opportunities to strengthen social skills, One Heart provides a safe, encouraging environment to grow.
What will they learn?
Through mindfulness activities, movement, creative projects and hands-on take-home tools, children will learn to:
• Better understand and manage their emotions
• Build confidence and self-awareness
• Develop empathy and stronger friendships
• Improve communication skills
• Practice goal-setting and thoughtful decision-making
• Build resilience they can use at home, school, and beyond
Each camper will create their own One Heart Toolkit filled with meaningful projects that reinforce lifelong social-emotional skills.
We are offering this program through our sister nonprofit, One Mind Foundation, which allows us to keep costs affordable. Scholarships are available, so we encourage families to reach out if financial assistance would be helpful.
Register today! Spots are limited and we encourage parents to sign up now at onemindfoundation.com/events.
Because strong hearts create strong futures!

Happy Birthday, Sabrina!
Today we’re celebrating Sabrina, one of our incredible Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners.
Her compassion and commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of our clients and their families make a meaningful difference every day.
Thank you for bringing yet another discipline to our team, making our One Mind impact bigger and better.
We are grateful to have you with us and hope your day is filled with joy, laughter and all the things that make you smile!
Friendship skills don't take the summer off.
When school ends, children often lose many of the daily opportunities they have to practice conversations, cooperation, problem-solving and navigating social situations. While summer may feel like a break, it's actually a wonderful time to strengthen the relationship skills that help children thrive.
The good news? Social growth doesn't require a packed schedule. Playdates, camps, family gatherings, neighborhood activities and community events all create natural opportunities for children to build confidence and connection.
And remember, success isn't measured by having lots of friends. It's about helping children feel included, build meaningful relationships, develop social confidence and learn the skills that support healthy connections throughout life.
If friendships feel hard for your child, you're not alone. Many children need support understandingm social cues, managing emotions and navigating peer relationships. With practice, encouragement, and the right support, these skills can grow.
Swipe through for simple ways to support friendship development this summer!

To the incredible dads of One Mind, Happy Father’s Day!
Today we celebrate the fathers who lead with strength, patience, compassion, and dedication.
We would like to give special recognition to our clinicians, Mental Health Therapist Sean and Occupational Therapist TJ. Thank you for the care and commitment you bring each day, not only to your own families at home, but also to the families you serve at One Mind. The positive example you provide both personally and professionally makes a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.
We also recognize the amazing fathers in our One Mind community who make their children’s well being a priority and work collaboratively to help them grow, thrive and reach their full potential. Your unwavering support leaves a lasting impact that extends far beyond what you may ever realize.
Wishing Sean, TJ, and all of the wonderful dads in our One Mind family a happy Father’s Day!
Ever wonder why your child can’t just calm down?! 👇
Our Occupational Therapist Kasey is here to help!!
The truth is, when a child is overwhelmed, stressed, or dysregulated, they’re not choosing to misbehave.
In those moments, the part of the brain responsible for reasoning, impulse control, and problem-solving becomes much harder to access. Instead, the amygdala — the brain’s built-in threat detector — takes over.
And that “threat” doesn’t always look dangerous to us.
It can be:
✨ Being told “no”
✨ A difficult transition
✨ A loud, busy environment
✨ Unexpected changes
When the amygdala senses a threat, it activates the body’s fight, flight, or freeze response. This can show up as:
• Yelling
• Hitting
• Running away
• Avoidance
• Shutting down
At the same time, stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline flood the body, increasing heart rate, speeding up breathing, tensing muscles, and amplifying emotions.
That’s why you might notice:
🔹 Big emotional outbursts
🔹 Difficulty listening or processing language
🔹 Increased sensory sensitivities
🔹 A child who seems unable to “use their words”
A powerful reframe is moving from:
❌ “My child is giving me a hard time.”
to
❤️ “My child is having a hard time.”
When a child is dysregulated, logic, lectures, and consequences are often inaccessible because their brain is focused on survival, not learning.
Instead, focus on:
✔️ Staying calm yourself
✔️ Creating safety
✔️ Offering connection
✔️ Supporting regulation
Because regulation comes before reasoning.
Save this for the next challenging moment and share it with someone who needs the reminder. 💛

You can’t put your finger on it….
Maybe the routines feel harder than they should.
Maybe the meltdowns seem bigger than expected.
Maybe school, friendships, mealtimes, or other everyday tasks feel more challenging for you than for other families.
From the outside, everything might look fine. But as a parent, you know when something doesn’t quite feel right.
That feeling matters.
At One Mind, we believe parents are the experts on their children. If your gut is telling you something is off, it’s worth exploring. Sometimes there’s an underlying challenge that hasn’t been identified yet. Sometimes your child simply needs additional support. Either way, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Our multidisciplinary team helps families understand what’s beneath the surface, identify strengths and challenges, and create a plan that helps children and families thrive.
Trust your instincts. Early support can make all the difference.

Summer may bring a break from the routines and pressures of the school year, but for many children anxiety doesn’t take a vacation.
Whether it’s attending a new camp, making new friends, trying new activities or wondering what the next school year will bring, anxiety can show up in many ways during the summer months.
In this video, our Mental Health Therapist Rebecca shares one of her favorite books to use in therapy: Hey Warrior by Karen Young.
This powerful and engaging book helps children understand anxiety in a way that feels approachable and empowering. Rebecca often introduces it early in treatment because it explains what’s happening in the brain and body when anxiety shows up, using simple language and relatable illustrations. The story describes anxiety as a “warrior” part of the brain that is trying to keep us safe, but sometimes sounds the alarm even when there’s no real danger.
By helping children see anxiety as something that is trying to help them, Hey Warrior opens the door to important conversations about understanding feelings, building confidence and learning new ways to respond when anxiety takes over.
Whether your child struggles with anxiety or you simply want to help them better understand their emotions, this is a wonderful book to read together at home.
🎥 Watch Rebecca share how she uses Hey Warrior in therapy and why it’s one of her go-to recommendations for families!
