The SpectorDance mission is "to create and present dance that makes a difference." Ocean Trilogy is one of our projects that exemplifies our mission. Inspired by a 10-year collaboration with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), Ocean Trilogy, is a multi-disciplinary dance performance and educational program that weaves together sound bytes from filmed interviews with renowned ocean scientists, stunning underwater footage, and various styles of music and dance. Mondays
6-7pm Beginning Jazz/Beginning Tap ages 6-12
7-8:30pm Teen/Adult Beginning Ballet ages 13+
Thursdays
6-7pm Beginning Ballet ages 6-12
7-8:30pm Teen/Adult Intermediate Ballet ages 13+
8:30-9:15pm Beginning Pointe (must also take 7pm class)
Saturdays
9:15-10:15am Ballet/Tap combo ages 3-5
10:15-11:45am Teen/Adult Intermediate Ballet ages 13+
11:45-12:30pm Beginning Pointe (must also take 10:15am class)
Fees for classes listed above run $96 – $136 for the 8 weeks.
Drop-ins are always welcome, $20.

“Ballet for Balance”, for older adults, provides a fun low-impact, accessible way to improve balance, mobility, strength, flexibility, posture, and cognitive function. This class will cater to older adults and will be taught as a beginning level (barre focused for support) focusing on controlled movements rather than jumps. This class is part of the YMCA Active Wellness Program that is a result of the partnership between the Central Coast YMCA and the Community Health Trust of Pajaro Valley, with funding provided by the Central California Alliance for Health.

Amy from SpectorDance and the YMCA, will be teaching a fitness-dance class for older adults as part of the Active Wellness Program for the Central Coast YMCA.
The class will be Tuesday Mornings, starting April 14th, from 8:45-9:45am at the YMCA of the Monterey Peninsula and it is FREE to attend.
Description of the class……

Introduction to Modern Dance taught by Meredith Ventura from Novus Contemporary Ballet
These classes will introduce foundational principles of modern dance through guided improvisation, floor work, and structured phrase work. Emphasis is placed on breath, weight, musicality, and expressive movement, helping dancers build strength, coordination, and confidence. Designed for all levels, these classes offer a supportive environment to explore.

Introduction to Contemporary Dance taught by Joshua D. Estrada-Romero Fuse Dance Company
This contemporary dance class blends codified dance techniques with movement practices such as yoga, boxing, taekwondo, and calisthenics. The class challenges dancers’ strength, flexibility, musicality, memory, and coordination through dynamic, rhythmically complex movement.
