Did you know March 21 is International Fragrance Day? We have just the thing to help you celebrate the beauty and creativity of perfume... Join us on April 18 for a one-of-a-kind talk and workshop with BibliOddities, an Augusta-based artist who creates scents inspired by books! In this event, you'll get to hear what goes into designing perfume, and even brainstorm together to design one yourself.

This program is limited to 25 participants and expected to fill quickly, so book your spot today! Registration link in the comments!

Some Mainers don’t just gaze at the night sky. They capture it. 03/05/2026

Here's a great article featuring Cape's own Ara Jerahian, whose extraordinary deep space photographs have been exhibited in the library's gallery several times. One of his photos, a gift from Ara, hangs permanently on the upper floor of the library near the circulation desk.

Some Mainers don’t just gaze at the night sky. They capture it. Astrophotographers across the state have invested thousands of dollars and hours into the celestial hobby.

We had such an amazing turnout at our Lantern Festival and Parade on February 28! It was made even more extraordinary by the addition of music from the Ideal Maine Social Aid and Sanctuary Band, and hot chocolate from Cape Elizabeth Police Department. Special thanks to all the volunteers, and especially to our tireless Festival Coordinator Gabby Doane! 🥰

Thanks so much to Officers Galvan and Koberger for their help at this fantastic community event! Cape Elizabeth Police Department is a gem in our community!

We may or may not have something fun in the works, and we are wondering... what are the senses you experience in the library? What about TML do you find unique? (And for long-time Cape Elizabeth residents... is there any lore or legend that is specific to our little coastal town?) No wrong answers!

It’s been ten years since the Thomas Memorial Library opened its doors in its renovated building! Over the past decade, this improved space has enabled the library to provide more programs, resources, and comfortable spaces for our community to gather, work, and relax. Currently, approximately 1,600 people walk through the library’s doors each week to borrow materials, attend programs, use the study rooms, or just to spend time among other people somewhere other than work or home.

The ribbon cutting for the new building took place on February 8, 2016. To celebrate, throughout the month of February library visitors are invited to add a "love message" to a lighted birch tree in the library lobby. Stop by and share what you love most about the new and improved library by adding a red or pink heart message to the tree!
