Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
(aka “Nana”) 💙

Goodbye ~
Here’s a haiku I wrote in January that has multiple meanings to me. Ghost or whisper was a prompt (don’t remember which one or who from) and the first two lines came quick.
Stuck on how to end it, my heart pulled me back to my mother’s funeral a couple weeks prior. At the very end of the ceremony my dad had mom’s all time favorite song played. “Time To Say Goodbye” ("Con te partirò”) specifically the Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman version. I think it fits pretty damn well. Hope you do too.
Poem in image:
“Those ghostly whispers
Echos of what there once was
Time to say goodbye”

One Day ~ ( )
Here’s a rewrite/repost of the very first haiku I posted back the December of 2017.
A lot has changed in the last 5+ years, including myself. One thing that hasn’t is the hope behind in these three lines. However, that hope is no longer tied to a single person. I’m ready and open to the future.
Poem in image:
“One day all will change
One day love will be enough
One day we will be”

Reciprocation~ ( )
Here’s a haiku I originally posted back in July of 2021.
I’ve spent too much time and energy in my past on people that didn’t do the same for me. Likewise I know I’ve been guilty of it too. We can all do better!
Poem in image:
“Honoring myself
Prioritizing true needs
Reciprocation”

Remnants~
Prompts can really come from anywhere. Several months ago I was reorganizing a bookshelf and got inspired by the cover and title of a friend’s book. The book in question was The Remnants of Love Lost by . Hope both she and yourselves like it.
Poem in image:
“Reading remnants
Of loves once lost
A battered heart
Lamenting the cost”

Discovering Light
It’s been a while since I’ve posted original content and while I might not be posting everyday there is new stuff to come.
Poem in Image:
“For over a year
My paper was dry
The passion gone
No ink to cry
But inner darkness
I had to fight
Nurturing me
Discovering light”

Hello Folks! I hope everyone is having a great week. I know it’s been ages since I’ve posted any new pieces and I just wanted to say thank you for sticking around. While I haven’t been writing much, I have been reading and you all are kicking ass with your words. Thank you!
I’m starting to feel the creative juices stirring again so I plan to start posting again in the near future. A lot has happened in the last year and I’m thankful to have a much more diverse pool of inspiration. Many of you are in that pool. 💙

Regret ~
Regret can be such a roadblock to healing. Here’s a haiku on it I originally posted back in January of 2019. It’s still as valid as it was then.

Listen ~
Here’s a small haiku on masculinity. The world has told us what it is and isn’t supposed supposed to be. I’m ready to quit listening and instead start listing to my heart, thus allowing myself to be the man I want to be.
So a good friend introduced me to a podcast recently and I’m obsessed. Man Enough] has me really taking a look at myself and what has made me the way I am. The hosts and guests really challenge the listeners and themselves to unpack the idea of masculinity and what it is.
This podcast has also really prompted some great car conversations with my youngest son (17). We’ve been listening to it together while driving to volleyball practice recently. He’s already getting things so much more than I did at his age and that makes me happy.
If you haven’t heard of Man Enough] give it a try. & are great co hosts and really challenge each other and myself to dig down below the surface to unearth real thought and change conversations.
