It is imperative to bring both of these into the counseling sessions that I conduct with clients in order to achieve lasting results. As a counselor, I believe it is my job to work myself out of a job. In essence, I am to "give a fish, while teaching a client to fish for themselves." The Bible instructs us, as brothers and sisters in Christ, to bear one another's burdens, to encourage and exhort one another in love, and to lift each other up. I have the unique opportunity to be able to lead clients to a well that will never run dry and to a healer who will never leave or forsake them. While exploring the deeper issues, fears, anxieties, wounds, and dysfunctionalities brought into the counseling room, I embrace the challenge of helping clients to develop in a holistic fashion.
