Meet one of our “New People in Plain,” Renee Burns!
Renee will be joining the cafeteria team at Taft Elementary. She brings more than 10 years of experience working in school lunchrooms in Utah, along with extensive experience working with students with special needs, especially those with autism.
Fun fact: Renee volunteers her time with a dachshund rescue and has two rescued dachshunds of her own! After living in Utah for 30 years, Renee recently moved to Ohio with her family. This summer, she enjoyed relaxing and settling into her new community.
Renee is excited to get back to working with kids and looks forward to meeting the students and staff at Taft Elementary.

Meet one of our “New People in Plain," Stephanie!
We’re excited to welcome our newest cafeteria worker to GlenOak High School.
Fun fact: She has an identical twin sister! They get mistaken for each other so often that they sometimes answer to each other’s names.
This summer, she kept busy painting and rearranging all of the bedrooms in her home. With three girls and a husband who works from home, there was plenty to organize! She also enjoyed a week-long extended family camping trip.

Meet one of our “New People in Plain,” Caleb!
Caleb is joining Plain Local as an Art Teacher at Taft and Warstler Elementary Schools. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Kent State University and is excited to return to the community he grew up near.
Fun fact: Caleb once worked on the grounds crew for a Minor League Baseball team, where he got a behind-the-scenes look at professional baseball and even met several players who have since made it to the majors!
This summer, Caleb traveled, created artwork for a local art show, explored art museums, caught a few baseball games, and made sure his cat still remembered him after all his adventures.
Caleb is looking forward to getting to know his students and their families while creating a classroom where creativity, confidence, and imagination can thrive.

Meet one of our “New People in Plain,” Hattie!
Hattie will serve as the American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher at GlenOak High School. She is a graduate of Kent State University and joins Plain Local after working as a Starbucks Shift Manager. Hattie is excited to build meaningful connections with her students while sharing her passion for American Sign Language.
Fun fact: Hattie is a beekeeper and currently cares for four beehives! This summer, she stayed busy traveling, planning her wedding, and working at Starbucks.

Meet one of our “New People in Plain,” Nick!
Nick will serve as a French Teacher at Oakwood Middle School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in French from Kent State University and his Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from the American College of Education. Nick brings teaching experience from Avon Lake City Schools, Mentor Public Schools, and Solon City Schools.
Fun fact: Nick is a twin and once worked at Disney World! This summer, he spent time working on projects around his house, playing with his 3-year-old Goldendoodle, Juno, and staying active with workouts.
Nick is excited to share his passion for the French language, culture, and history with a new group of students. When he's not teaching, you'll likely find him weightlifting, spending time with Juno, or catching up on episodes of Survivor.

Savannah will be joining the Plain Local Schools team as a cafeteria worker at GlenOak High School.
Fun fact: Savannah loves to fish and has a love for cheetah print!
This summer, Savannah enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, and making memories during lots of trips to the park.

Meet one of our “New People in Plain,” Christen!
Christen will serve as an Intervention Specialist at Little Eagles Preschool. She is a graduate of Walsh University and is excited to be part of this exciting new chapter as the preschool program officially becomes part of Plain Local Schools.
Fun fact: Christen loves fashion, traveling, spending time with her family, and spoiling her puppies!
Christen is especially excited about the opportunity to help strengthen the connection between Little Eagles Preschool and the district's elementary schools. She looks forward to building relationships with students and families early, creating smooth transitions into kindergarten, and helping children build a strong foundation for future success.
