There is something special about Homecoming. The school spirit, the traditions and most importantly, getting to share those moments with the people who helped you get there.

Our 2026 GlenOak Homecoming Court was joined by their families Friday night at Bob Commings Field for one more Homecoming tradition. Congratulations to all of our attendants and to Homecoming Queen Olivia Zets and Homecoming King Cayden Balcomb, who were crowned earlier Friday during the pep rally.

From freshmen to seniors, athletes to artists, musicians to student leaders, this court represents so many of the people and experiences that make GlenOak, GlenOak. Congratulations, Eagles!

Meet Amiah Elder, a GlenOak freshman who spent the first half Friday night cheering on the Golden Eagles with the freshman cheer team. Then, as halftime approached, she traded the sidelines for the field, picked up her trumpet and joined the GlenOak Marching Band.

Amiah has been in band since fifth grade and decided to add cheer this year. Doing both at the same time?

“Yeah, it’s been hard, but also really fun. I’m glad I’m doing both.”

And we’re glad she is, too.

Because at GlenOak, students don’t have to fit into one box. Experiences like Amiah’s take commitment from students, but they also take coaches, directors, and advisors willing to coordinate, adapt, and make room for students to explore everything they love.

Child Nutrition Director Jennifer Rex jumped behind the serving line at Avondale Elementary today...because that’s what our team does. Wherever an extra set of hands is needed, our Eagles step in and get to work. Serving up lunch and a few smiles along the way!

Glenwood fifth graders are telling their stories through words and art! Students created autobiographical poetry paintings, combining personal stories, poetry and visual art to create meaningful pieces that reflect who they are. 🎨💚💛

Learning chemistry is one thing. Seeing it happen right in front of you is another. Mrs. Ruttig’s Chemistry students at GlenOak High School put science into action with flame tests, using the unique colors produced by different compounds to help identify them.

The GlenOak Boys Soccer team picked up a HUGE 1-0 victory on the road at Jackson tonight! 🦅

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 10-1-1 overall and 5-0 in the Federal League!

Join us in congratulating GlenOak students Jimmy Zurbuch and Penelope Teague on their National Merit recognition! Jimmy was named a Commended Student, while Penelope was named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. We are proud of these outstanding Eagles and their accomplishments! Go Eagles!

Jimmy earned the distinction of Commended Student, while Penelope has been named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Penelope is among a select group of students recognized from more than 1.2 million students nationwide across approximately 20,000 high schools.

Congratulations, James, on this outstanding achievement, and best of luck to Penelope as she continues through the National Merit process.
