These thoughtful donations may seem like a small gesture, but they make a BIG impact. Having snacks available helps us meet our students where they are and reminds them that their needs matter and that their community cares about them.

Our School Resource Officer has a message for our ACTIVE Families:

Dear ACTIVE Family,

My name is Officer Joseph Cordero, and I’m proud to serve as your School Police Officer with the Cherokee County School District Police Department. My role is to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors.

Here’s what I do at ACTIVE Academies:

✔ Safety First: I work closely with school staff on security measures, emergency preparedness, and crime prevention.
✔ Building Relationships: I’m here to support students—whether it’s answering questions, mentoring, or just saying hello in the hallway!
✔ Teaching Safety Skills: From internet safety to conflict resolution, I help educate students on making wise choices.
✔ Community Partner: I collaborate with parents, teachers, and local law enforcement to address concerns and keep our school secure.

- Fun fact about the Officer, I’ve worked as a School Police since 1999. My hobbies are hiking, doing sudokus, and puzzles. I’m married with three kids, and two granddaughters.

Coach Drew joined us at ACTIVE this year and is working with our ACE middle schoolers! We are so excited to have him on our team and grateful for the positive energy, encouragement, and support he brings to our students.

Our middle schoolers need adults who see them, believe in them, and remind them that they are capable of so much more. We know Coach Drew will be one of those people in their corner cheering them on, building them up, and showing them that they matter.
