Season is coming up soon: 3 tips for the upcoming season.
-start focusing on in season movement workouts
-Creating a routine that allows you to maintain arm strength, and stay healthy
-Diet, sleep, and daily life choices that allows you to perform at a high level everyday.
It’s time: Put the baseball down after 2 weeks of deload throwing. Start a ramp up phase to your lifting. Build a stronger foundation.
Don’t forget to do 2 weeks of de-loading with throwing! Don’t go from 100% to 0%.
If a pitcher can’t throw an average fastball with control, why teach them off speed? Because everything works off your fastball, and if you can’t throw your fastball for a strike don’t learn another pitch.
Did you know you can throw a bullpen without a baseball! Visualize yourself throwing a bullpen mentally, and boom you have thrown your first mental bullpen! It works i promise!
A pitching coach can not get a player to get to top tier numbers with biomechanics, assessments, or velocity without technology or tools guided toward helping with certain ways. Someone just looking at a player is just seeing what they can fix and once they fix it. How can you achieve better results? That’s the real question.
It’s tryout season, please don’t do tryouts 3/4 days in a row, with your player pitching everyday and do fielding at the same time. Give space in between tryouts and allow the players arm to get rest. Can’t perform and be consistent when your arm is tired.
Amazing example of a couple key points:
-Good coil/Leg Lift
-Starting the “drift”, starting his momentum home.
-Keeping the hips and torso closed, instead of opening up right away
-Powerful base when he lands at footstrike. Maximizing hip to shoulder separation, good arm angle at foot-strike.
Parents please, if your son Is doing these 3 to 4 tryouts a week, let them rest after.
Think of pitching as a chain of events. It your finish is messed up. Look at what you have done before that. What you do going into footstrike, are the most critical parts of the motion.
