JRC is a non-profit organization, founded in 1974, with two centers serving children and seniors. We are also proud to offer two unique programs to JRC.

Our mission statement at JRC is to enrich lives through educating children, engaging seniors, and strengthening community. At JRC, we care about our earliest learners and also ensuring quality of life for seniors! Early education is the key to building the foundation for learning. JRC provides early education and quality care at our two Learning Center locations. On the other end of the spectrum, people are living longer and ensuring quality of life is intact is key. Our JRC Adult Day Center exists to provide purposeful and engaging activities for those who need assistance, also enabling their caretaker to work or receive respite. We offer intensive services such as showering and personal care, and can accept veterans utilizing VA benefits. Our goal is to help individuals stay in their own home for as long as possible. Our Healthy Habits program focuses on providing nutritious and healthy food to our children and seniors. JRC also offers the Intergenerational Connections Program, where we bring children and seniors together for purposeful and fun activities. It is an opportunity for seniors to interact with children, while children can learn from older adults. Call for a tour today or to learn more!

All week we're celebrating the availability, value, and accessibility of community-based adult day care and therapeutic programs - and more than that, we're celebrating the people who power our Adult Day Center at JRC.

Thank you for what you do for our community of participants.

Gia is giving us a closer look at JRC’s Healthy Habits fresh food initiative, which brings more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other nutritious choices into children’s diets while reducing processed foods.

Every other month, we prepare Healthy Habits on the Go kits for our preschoolers to take home. This month’s recipe is dirty spaghetti!

They don’t make them like Tim Dunne anymore! If you know Tim, then you know he's a hard worker. He is loyal, patient, and always ready to do what needs to be done. For 43 years, he has helped care for JRC’s buildings and, through that work, the people inside them!

Tim began his JRC career at age 23 as a bus driver and general maintenance employee at the JJ Burns Center, the site that would later become our 14th Street Learning Center. Today, he serves as JRC’s Facilities Director.

His connection to JRC runs even deeper. Tim is the only current employee who knew our founder, the late Father Coleman. Their relationship began through St. Paul’s, where Tim was active in his faith and served as an altar boy. That connection helped lead Tim to JRC and began a remarkable career of service.

For Tim, the best part of the job has always been the people. It is seeing children and seniors happy in spaces created for them. It is the smiling faces and hearing a child or Adult Day Center member call out, “Mr. Tim!” When asked what has kept him at JRC for more than four decades, Tim’s answer is simple: patience, gratitude for the work, and the happiness of the people around him.

Forty-three years is more than a milestone. It is a legacy of showing up, solving problems, and helping JRC grow!

This morning, families from both of our Learning Centers took part in Fathers Walk Your Child to School Day, hosted by the Stark County Fatherhood Coalition. We were grateful to join this community event celebrating fathers, father figures, male caregivers, and all the caring adults who show up to support children as they learn and grow.

A special thank-you to the Domestic Violence Project, Inc. for donating a goodie pack to every child! We truly appreciate the partnership and everyone who helped make the morning meaningful for all our families.
