Last month at the organization's Friend and Leader Award Dinner, Massachusetts Association for Mental Health recognized individuals whose work contributes to progress in awareness, health promotion, prevention and effective treatment for children and adults affected by mental health challenges throughout Massachusetts.

Colleagues volunteered at community organizations working to promote food access, support people experiencing homelessness, beautify parks and public spaces, reduce social isolation and improve health outcomes. In light of recent nonprofit funding disruptions, Fairfield County's Community Foundation's Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) came up with a creative solution. CNE's first Offers & Needs Market, nonprofit professionals exchanged real resources in real time. Participants were invited to name two things: what they need and what they can offer. The state of Maine is offering a one-time $300 relief payment to help with rising costs. Southern Maine Agency on Aging is partnering with AARP to help eligible older adults and adults with disabilities complete Property Tax Fairness Credit forms to access these funds. If an individual has already filed state tax forms and they meet the income eligibility criteria, they will automatically receive a $300 check.

Earlier this month, Southside Community Land Trust celebrated its 34th Annual Rare & Unusual Plant Sale. Attendees browsed and purchased more than 20,000+ organically grown fruit, vegetable and herb plants, grown on-site at City Farm. In addition, hundreds of remaining plants will be donated to libraries, community centers, gardens and social service organizations across R.I.
