We competed in a different type of comp this weekend. The 5th Annual Turley Associates Charity Cookoff. They raise money for local scholarships and a different charity every year. We were excited to be a part of this event.

As for the cook, our drums ran perfectly with B&B Charcoal products in the firebox.

We had an extra category this time. We had to cook a dish with Spam as the mystery meat. After a quick trip to HEB, we cooked up some Hawaiian Spam and Jalapeño Jack Cheese Sliders. Turned out perfect! Might add that to the cookbook.

Only top 3 places were called. We walked away with a first place Chicken.

Big thanks to my wife and two nephews that came to help out.

This past weekend we made the shortest trip of the year to Buckholts for the annual Cotton Festival. There were 40 teams there and several heavy hitters from our area. We fought the mud and the rain and the humidity and the heat amd turned in three solid meats. We were happy with our turn ins. Judges kinda agreed.
