Diabetes capital of the world? India??
I read few peer reviewed articles in Indian Journal of Ophthalmology & Journal of the Association of Physicians in India (JAPI), where “India is deemed as the world’s capital of diabetes.” Then found several news articles in Indiatoday, timesofindia, thehindu, businessworld, globalhealthaging, deccanherald and more, citing India as the diabetes capital of the world.
Top Countries with highest number of diabetes cases in 2021 were
1-China
2-India
3-Pakistan
4-USA
5-Indonesia
6-Brazil
7-Mexico
So why is India the diabetes CAPITAL of the world? What am I missing?

Cancer patients in low and middle income countries (LMICs) have poor prognosis compared to patients in high income countries.
Why?
1-lack of awareness
2-late diagnosis
3-lack of access to treatment
How? to create awareness?
1-TV ads by government cancer control programs or large healthcare companies.
2-Friends and families.
3-Social media &/ internet.
4-Outdoor patient or commonly called OPD (outpatient department) discussion with docs.
Use social media to create awareness judiciously, talk to your doc on routine OPD visit and discuss cancer screening or early diagnosis options.

Previous lung diseases (PLD), such as chronic bronchitis, asthma, TB and pneumonia are associated with higher risk of lung cancer
As per SYNERGY project, which is the pooled analysis of case-control studies from Europe, Canada and North America
-Risk of lung cancer is generally increased with PLDs, such as chronic bronchitis, asthma, TB and pneumonia.
-Although, to***co is shared risk factor for both PLDs and cancer, PLD is an independent risk factor for cancer
-Hypothesis is that inflammation caused by PLD may act as catalyst for lung cancer.
If you suffer from symptoms, such as cough, sputum and difficulty breathing, don’t ignore and talk to your doc about cancer early.

Ozone usually forms on hot summer days by reacting with air pollution!
-Ozone in the stratosphere is “good” as it protects from UV rays
-Ozone in the troposphere or ground is “bad” as it can cause breathing difficulty, asthma, lung damage and early death.
-It is formed when 2 air pollutants (VOCs & NOx) chemically react with sunlight. VOC is volatile organic compounds and NOx is Nitrogen Oxide.
Ground level Ozone is also commonly called smog and can be damage can prevented by
-maintaining your vehicle regularly
-inflate your car tires
-check AQI (Air Quality Index)
-if having difficulty in breathing, talk to your doc early.
