Chef Becky's Quick Watermelon Salad
Cubed fresh watermelon
Fresh basil or mint
Cubed feta
A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
A light drizzle of balsamic glaze
Pinch of flaky sea salt and cracked black pepper

Toss gently and serve chilled. The sweet watermelon, tangy balsamic, and fresh herbs create a beautiful balance of summer flavors.

There's nothing better than biting into a ripe New Jersey watermelon at the height of summer. When our local farms are overflowing with fresh produce, I like to keep recipes simple and let the ingredients shine.

This refreshing Watermelon Mint Mocktail is one of my favorite ways to cool off on a warm August afternoon.

Watermelon Mint Mocktail
• 3 cups locally grown seedless watermelon, cubed
• Juice of 1 fresh lime
• A handful of fresh mint leaves
• 1/2 cup sparkling water
• Ice

Blend the watermelon, lime juice, mint, and ice until smooth. Pour into a chilled glass, top with sparkling water, and garnish with fresh mint or a small watermelon wedge.

For me, preserving food is about more than saving ingredients; it’s about honoring the farmers who grow them, reducing waste, and keeping the connection between the land and our kitchen alive.

Some evenings stay with you long after the table has been cleared.

Our recent Evening in the Garden began with a private viewing of Robin Love's Absence of Gravity at Gryphon Gallery before guests gathered beneath the trees in Robin's garden for an unforgettable dinner celebrating art, friendship, and the beauty of the season.

Chef Becky Geisel created a menu inspired by the bounty of local farms—from artisan cheeses and grilled peaches with burrata to sweet Barnegat Light scallops with summer succotash. Dessert, inspired by one of Robin's paintings, beautifully brought together art and cuisine in a way only this evening could.

As the sun set, stories were shared, glasses were raised with a rare vintage Sauternes, and sixteen guests experienced something truly special. It was a reminder that the best memories are often created around a table where great food, inspiring art, and meaningful conversation come together.
