What an unforgettable night at the 1st Squadron, 108th Cavalry Regiment, 2026 Silk and Saber Ball!

We hosted our long awaited ball on January 31st, 2026 at The Forum River Center in Rome, GA.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this special evening filled with camaraderie and celebration, and we are grateful to everyone who made this event happen.

Our distinguished guest speaker, CSM Brian Haydt, the U.S. Maneuver Center of Excellnce Command Sergeant Major, delivered an inspiring message that resonated with all in attendance.

The grog ceremony was a memorable highlight, steeped in tradition and camaraderie, as we honored our shared commitment to the mission and each other. 🍻

We also took the time to recognize the remarkable achievements of our Troopers during knighting ceremonies for The Order of Saint George, the Patron Saint of Armor. Congratulations to all the awardees, and thank you for your dedication to the Cavalry.

And of course, the dance floor was alive with energy as we celebrated together, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to everyone who made this event a success! We look forward to many more opportunities to come together as a community. Until next time!

This weekend, the Squadron held its Spur Ride, honoring a proud Cavalry tradition.

The Order of the Spur marks a Trooper’s transition from “shave-tail” to seasoned Cavalryman. Candidates faced a demanding series of events, including a ruck march, PMCS, obstacle courses, Comms, Call for Fire, JBCP operations, casualty care, weapons disassembly/reassembly, and a unit history test.

Each Soldier stepped up, showing determination, teamwork, and respect for the Cavalry tradition. The challenges were tough, but they stayed focused, pushed through, and earned their spurs.

You know what they say: If you ain’t CAV… you ain’t.

During this year’s Annual Training, the Rough Riders pushed themselves to the limit, sharpening their weapon skills and reinforcing their warrior mindset. They qualified with M4 rifles, M17 pistols, and MK19 gr***de launchers, and executed live gr***de throws. The mortar section also hung rounds with precision and focus. These vital skills are the foundation of combat readiness ensuring our soldiers remain lethal, disciplined, and always prepared to dominate the battlefield.

Today, let us reflect with family and friends and be grateful for the Rough Riders who gave everything. Their courage echoes through the generations, and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader who fought for equality, justice, and unity. His dream inspires us all to serve with courage, integrity, and respect.

As members of the Army, we carry his vision forward—striving to be a force for good, standing together as one team, regardless of race, background, or belief.

Let us remember his words: 'Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.' May we always fight for what is right.

Happy New Year, Rough Rider family!

Wishing everyone a fantastic start to 2025, filled with joy, success, and new opportunities. Here's to a great year ahead! 🎉🎉

As we close out the year, we want to celebrate the meaningful connections the Cav forged in 2024—both among our own ranks and with soldiers from around the globe.

Take OR-3 Djurtoft from the Danish contingent, for example. This holiday season, while visiting the U.S. on vacation, he made it a point to attend Chaplain Hamilton’s church, just as he did back in Kosovo. Moments like these highlight the strength of our shared commitment and unity.

Merry Christmas, Rough Riders!

We hope this holiday season is filled with love, joy, and unforgettable moments with your loved ones. Wishing you all an amazing Christmas and a wonderful year ahead! 🎄 🎅🏻
