Calhoun First United Methodist Church

It is pretty amazing to watch the sky part and receive the opportunty to serve. We had a lengthy list of tasks but most importantly, we met a friend and served a child of God. We look forward to sharing our experiences with you on Sunday morning.

The weather was all around us, but our job site was in the clear. We built a set of stairs and reinforced the porch railings. We have more work tomorrow, but today was a blessing!

Hayesville, NC may never be the same (that’s the goal)! We are one of several churches here that have come to serve the community. It is going to be a great week of service.

I have been working with our intern (Brendan Porter) for a couple weeks, and this Sunday you will get to meet him!

As we approach this weekend, I thought it was fitting to share an old joke...

A pastor was doing a children's sermon on Pentecost.
"If I had all my bags packed and tickets in my hand," the pastor asked the children, "what am I getting ready to do?"A little girl raised her hand and said, "Go on a trip!""Exactly!" said the pastor.

"And if I was reading my Bible and praying every single day, what am I doing?""Growing closer to God!" shouted a boy.

Trying to get to the Pentecost theme, the pastor asked, "And if you saw a rush of mighty wind, heard a loud noise, and saw fire resting over everyone's head, what would that mean?"The little girl immediately blurted out, "It means the UMC committee is having another potluck in the fellowship hall!"

The JOY group went to Adairsville to try out Los Mesquite's Mexican Grill. The food was great and the fellowship was outstanding!

Yesterday, we celebrated Meredith's Confirmation and the youth offered a special dialogue for Mother's Day!
