Mustang Facts Monday

Mustangs are experts at understanding pressure and release.

In the wild, horses constantly communicate through energy, movement, and body language. A pinned ear, a shift in posture, a horse stepping into another’s space- these subtle pressures guide the herd and help maintain balance without constant conflict.

And here’s the important part:
The release matters just as much as the pressure.

The moment the right response happens, the pressure goes away. That’s how horses learn. That’s how trust is built.

It’s not about fear.
It’s about clarity, timing, and communication.

That’s why working with mustangs teaches so much about leadership:

🌀Too much pressure creates resistance
🌀Inconsistent pressure creates confusion
🌀Fair, clear guidance creates confidence
🌀Release tells the horse, “Yes… that’s it.”

Wild horses don’t waste energy fighting every battle.

Healthy herd leadership is often quiet, intentional, and incredibly efficient.

And honestly… humans could learn a lot from that too.

✨ The best leaders know when to apply pressure, when to soften, and when to let peace become the reward.

Mustang Facts Monday

Mustangs have nearly 360° vision.

Because they’re prey animals, their eyes are positioned on the sides of their heads, allowing them to see almost all the way around themselves without turning.

Here’s what that means:

✨They can spot movement from far away.

✨Their wide field of vision helps protect the herd.

✨They have only small blind spots directly in front and behind them.

They rely heavily on awareness and observation for survival.

Mustangs are constantly reading their environment—not from fear alone, but from instinct and intelligence.

They remind us that awareness is a form of wisdom. Sometimes the safest path forward starts with simply paying attention.

P.s. How handsome is Durango? 😍

Turns out around here, horses aren’t the only things getting worked! 🤠

We’ve been swapping saddles for ropes and practicing our ranching skills too!

From swinging loops to chasing down cattle, the crew has been learning that ranch life takes grit, teamwork, timing… and the ability to laugh at yourself when the rope completely misses. 😅

Because around here, we’re not just raising riders, we’re building confidence, leadership, work ethic, and a little cowboy/cowchick toughness along the way!

After much debate… this little firecracker officially earned the name ✨FRENZY✨ 🤠

Because calm and collected?
Definitely isn’t this little guys style…

Full of speed, personality, and chaos in the cutest form possible. He keeps the horses watching, the dogs curious, and us laughing nonstop.

Safe to say the name fits him perfectly already ⚡️

We’re looking forward to the summer watching frenzy and fury run the wild spirit ranch!
