🐄 The Disease You Don't See Coming: Histophilus somni

Many cattle producers focus on respiratory viruses, but one bacterial disease often flies under the radar until it causes significant losses—Histophilus somni, commonly referred to as "Somnus."

Somnus is a naturally occurring bacterium that can cause a variety of serious health problems in cattle, including pneumonia, septicemia, myocarditis (heart inflammation), arthritis, reproductive issues, and sudden death.
