Student confusion abounded: Should I take the ACT/SAT? Should I report my scores? Who benefits from TO policies? Do I receive a...

(I would add Rhetoric and Argument to the list.)The push for STEM innovation and global competitiveness led to an almost desertion of writing education in schools, leading to graduates who can barely put together a report. However, there is an increasing push around the importance of liberal arts subjects to success in tech fields, as major companies begin seeking more liberal arts graduates to fill their coffers.
In reality, students need all of the above. Computational and analytical thinking is intrinsically tied into literacy, and if students are to be successful in the workplace, a cross-curricular, cross-discipline approach to learning is one way to ensure students possess all of the skills they need for jobs that don't even exist yet. FAFSA's Lurking, Nosy Cousin--The CSS PROFILE 10/13/2016

You may think that once you’ve completed the FAFSA you’re all set as far as applying for college financial aid goes, but you would be wrong. The FAFSA only covers aspects of federal student aid, not the aid that might come from colleges and universities themselves. Although most are satisfied to use the FAFSA to award institutional aid, many (about 400, including some scholarship organizations and private high schools) would like to delve more deeply into your finances to determine how much aid they’re willing to give you from their own pockets. If you aren’t aware of this extra step when applying for financial aid, you may not get all that you’re eligible for and you might be in for a nasty surprise the night before it’s due.

FAFSA's Lurking, Nosy Cousin--The CSS PROFILE Completing the FAFSA may only be the beginning of the quest for college financial aid. Be sure to see whether the CSS PROFILE is required as well.
