This season feels very different from past seasons. I don't know if the area is oversaturated with back yard breeders, many selling the same things and competing against each other rather than helping each other, as we did in the past or, if it has to do with the inflation we're all living under... I'm not sure.

I'm a month into my hatching season. I typically sell out of my small hatches (1-2 dozen per week) within 48hrs. I'm still sitting on 3 chicks from my first hatch, a month ago, and nearly full hatches from each successive week. My brooders are full and I'm downing in chicks.

I understand Dunlap is having the same problem this early in the seasons and are already selling off breeding stock.

I'm honestly quite discouraged by this and am seriously contemplating turning in my incubator for the season as, this little hobby that usually sustains itself, is currently hemorrhaging at a time where hemorrhaging hobbies are unsustainable.

I'll keep it going for a bit but, I may have to rethink the 2026 season here shortly if things don't turn around.
