❤️ The Red Sand Project

If you’ve noticed red sand filling the cracks of sidewalks around Butler, it’s there for a reason.

The Red Sand Project is a visual reminder of the people who can too easily fall through the cracks—those vulnerable to human trafficking, exploitation, and abuse.

VOICe brought this project into our community to create awareness around something that can often remain unseen. Human trafficking doesn’t only happen somewhere else, to someone else. Awareness matters because recognizing vulnerability, knowing the signs, and looking out for the people around us can make a difference.

Seeing that line of red sand make its way down Main Street and right past Willow & Woven felt especially meaningful. Our community is made stronger when we choose to notice one another, protect one another, and refuse to look away from difficult realities.

I’m proud to see Butler participating in a project that asks us to do something simple, but important:

Notice the cracks. See the people who may be falling through them. And remember that every person deserves safety, dignity, and a voice. ❤️

Thank you to VOICe for continuing to advocate, educate, and bring awareness to our community.

Today, you'll notice something a little different around our sidewalks - red sand filling the cracks.

This is part of Red Sand Day, an awareness campaign bringing attention to human trafficking. The red sand represents the people who too often "fall through the cracks" and reminds us that every person deserves to be seen, valued, and protected.

We're proud to join VOICE Butler Co and other organizations throughout Butler County in raising awareness about this important issue. Together, we can help educate our community, support survivors, and work toward a future where no one is overlooked.

The sand will naturally wash away over time, but we hope the message will stay with all of us much longer.

Human trafficking is happening in every zip code, including yours. Join us today, World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, as we pour red sand into sidewalk cracks across Butler, representing the overlooked and unheard victims of trafficking. This simple, powerful act says: No one should fall through the cracks.

If you suspect human trafficking, don’t stay silent.

❤️ Learn the signs. Share the message. Support survivors.

🚨 Calling all local businesses and organizations! 🚨

Join VOICE on July 30th for the Red Sand Project, a nationwide awareness campaign that brings attention to human trafficking and those who are too often "lost in the cracks" of society and the justice system.

We're inviting businesses, schools, churches, and community organizations to pour red sand into the cracks of the sidewalks outside their buildings as a simple but powerful way to raise awareness.

❤️ Want to participate? VOICE will provide the red sand! Just send us a message or an email, and we'll make sure you have what you need! [email protected]

Together, we can spark conversations, raise awareness, and stand with survivors.

Red Sand Project Red Sand Project is a participatory artwork created by Molly Gochman that uses sidewalk interventions and earthwork installations to create opportunities for people to question, connect and take action against vulnerabilities that can lead to human trafficking and exploitation.
