What We Water, Grows.

Allow me to make an analogy if I may. What we choose to spend our time and energy on, matters. Too me it is like water, water is a very valuable resource, especially in the West, it is limited. So if we only have a limited supply, what decide to spend it on is a big deal.

If we choose to spend our time (water) on things we are not really all that important, the things we don’t actually need to grow, when we need the water, it will be gone, we already used it in something else.

We tend to think we will have an unlimited supply of water when we are young, but we will all get to the point in life when we start understanding that it will run out and what we watered is what we are left with.

Make it count…

These animals need a damn break. Wildfire smoke 🙄

** UNHEALTHY WILDFIRE AIR INCOMING THURSDAY **

The strongest batch of surface wildfire smoke will come into the region Wednesday night into Thursday morning, spreading across the entire state on Thursday afternoon. The highest concentrations of smoke will be in northern Pennsylvania, with a bit less as you head farther south. Nevertheless, the recent model projections of the amount of smoke that will be in the region is highly concerning. At this moment, this does not look to be *as* bad as the smoke outbreak in 2023, but very unhealthy air will be present even if AQI levels do not reach 400+.

AREA A: AQI values are favored to exceed 200 if the densest smoke reaches the surface. Air quality could quickly become Very Unhealthy, and even healthy individuals may notice eye irritation, coughing, or difficulty breathing outdoors. Those with asthma, heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and anyone working outside should strongly consider limiting outdoor activities. Conditions may change rapidly depending on the exact location of the smoke plume.

AREA B: AQI values are favored to rise above 150. Sensitive groups are most likely to experience health effects, but prolonged outdoor activity may also affect healthy individuals. Consider reducing strenuous outdoor exercise, keeping windows closed when possible, and using air conditioning or air filtration if available.

AREA C: AQI values above 100 in some locations. Air quality is expected to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups, meaning those with asthma, COPD, heart disease, children, and older adults should limit prolonged outdoor activity. Most healthy individuals can continue normal activities but may notice hazy skies or a smoky smell if concentrations increase. These areas may see the worst of the smoke settle Thursday night into Friday, when AQI levels may reach 150-200.

DISCLAIMER: This forecast will likely be refined as newer smoke guidance becomes available over the next 24 hours. Small shifts in wind direction or how efficiently the smoke mixes down to the surface could result in significant changes to local air quality. If you have plans to spend extended time outdoors on Thursday, especially in northern and central Pennsylvania, stay tuned for updates and be prepared to adjust those plans if air quality deteriorates further. At this moment, this does not appear likely to be as severe as the historic June 2023 smoke event, but air quality is still favored to reach very unhealthy levels across parts of the state.
