I never got the chance to meet her, but I’ll never forget the day we were within 5 feet of her our very first trip to Dollywood. My eyes filled with instant tears experiencing her glow. I’ve gotten the opportunity to meet a lot of people in my time in Nashville, but being in her presence was different than the rest.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my dad today. His love for Gatlinburg was out of this world. It’s the ONLY place he didn’t complain about traveling. Then I think about his frequent trips to Walgreens on his way home from work and anytime Dolly was on the cover of a magazine he had to get it for me. When I moved to Nashville to go to Belmont, he used to call me on his lunch break to let me know Dolly was going to be on the late night shows so I could record it. I always had to remind him I was in college and didn’t have a DVR and so he would say he’d have my mom record it since he didn’t know how to work the tv like that so I could watch it next time I was ā€œup that wayā€

I can only imagine him waiting in the long line to meet her as she entered heaven today ready to tell her about our families love for her and probably even threw in an Elvis song rendition while he’s at it!

One of my biggest flex’s since moving into my house was that THE Dolly Parton lives 8 minutes (less than 3 miles) from my house. I frequently remind people that’s like we’re neighbors! I’m so glad we got to live in a world where there was Dolly Parton. Tennessee feels quiet today. The birds aren’t as loud. The road noise is quieter. We lost our national treasure. Thank you Dolly for every song, tv show, movie, you name it and you did it and we loved it.

Rest in Peace Queen Dolly šŸ’•

June has been hard. 2026 has been hard period. Some of the toughest months of my entire life and it finally caught up to me in June.

I was blessed to be named Teddy's Tavern Nashville Artist of the Month and to be honest I haven’t taken a single second to enjoy it. The day I woke up with a sore throat that turned into a horrible cough that took my voice for 3 weeks and needed steroids to fix was the exact day my dog got attacked and it shook me to the core. Disappointed me. I still have flashbacks. It led to more flashbacks to the day my dad passed away. It’s led to me finally dealing with emotions I realized I kinda pushed away because that’s just how I’ve always rolled. One day at a time- not two, I told myself. My body finally caught up to me and between the singing a few days a week I was at home in silence to make it through the next show so I could pay my bills and work on my best friend healing from his trauma and injuries as well.

All this to say, Teddys has been home for me for a while so I am beyond grateful and blessed to be their Artist of the Month for June. Every day I go to ā€œworkā€ I’m greeted by friends that I can share my life with and escape reality for a few hours with a smile. Tonight I was gifted a spot to share some songs near and dear to my heart along with my buddy and favorite duo partner Cian Pedersen. If you aren’t busy, come out at 8pm (7pm doors) for some original tunes and tunes ā€œI wish I wrote.ā€ I’d love to see you. Otherwise I’ll see you every Tuesday and Friday morning starting at 11am at Teddys Tavern šŸ’™
