Circa 2014 - They were a touch too young and my tone could’ve been better, but handing my kids a basket and telling them that they had to do their own laundry was one of my better parenting moves.

Three weeks. That’s all it took.

Between a hiking trip to Colorado and getting my kids ready for college, I neglected the gardens for about three weeks…and now this is stressing me out.

That’s why, when a buyer tells me they want a house with more property, I have questions. Have they owned property before? What are they hoping to get from having more land? And just as important — how much time do they actually want to spend taking care of it?

I only have a little over an acre, but it keeps me on my toes. More land means more privacy, more space…and definitely more work.

So which would you choose — MORE property or LESS maintenance?

Heading into the weekend, this feels like a good reminder: where you live should support how you want to live.

For me, that means trails, live music, being outside, good places to explore — and apparently a yard that belongs mostly to the dogs.

When I’m helping someone move, I want to know more than bedrooms, bathrooms and price. I want to know what you want your life outside those four walls to look like.

The house matters. The life you get to live around it matters too.
