Cranberry Township police launch program in effort to make communicating with law enforcement easier

Thank you to Mike Manipole, Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and Cranberry Township Police Dept for inviting us to attend the special introduction of the Blue Envelope Program to assist individuals with autism, communication barriers, and/or other disabilities. This envelope organizes key information - including the owner's driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance - while also giving officers helpful information to guide the interaction. The envelope can be used by anyone who may find interactions with law enforcement stressful or difficult to navigate, as it helps reduce anxiety and make communications easier for everyone involved. We appreciate the opportunity to attend this important event and to share information about our upcoming Special Needs Consortium Disability Summit on October 8th in Wexford.

Join us on Monday, October 5 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm for an informative virtual meeting on Understanding Waiver Programs and Available Supports. Mary Evrard, Community and Communications Liaison Coordinator from the Allegheny County Department of Human Services (AC DHS) Office of Developmental Supports (ODS). Mary will provide an overview of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers, including an introduction to Pennsylvania waiver programs, eligibility requirements, available services and supports, resources to help you learn about each waiver option, and where and how to apply. Families and caregivers will learn about resources that may help them navigate available supports.
